The Agricultural Dealers and Manufacturers Association (ADMA) Agrishow 2025, held from June 5–7 at ART Farm in Pomona, Harare, concluded with record-breaking attendance and a vibrant display of agricultural innovation. Over 200 companies from Zimbabwe and neighboring countries participated, presenting cutting-edge farming technologies, sustainable practices, and a diverse range of indigenous livestock.
Technological Advancements Take Center Stage
This year’s Agrishow emphasized the importance of modernizing agriculture through technology. Exhibitors showcased state-of-the-art equipment, including GPS-guided tractors, automated irrigation systems, and zero-tillage machinery. These innovations aim to enhance productivity and sustainability in Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector.
ADMA Chairperson Marco Garizio highlighted the expo’s role in promoting ethical trading practices and providing farmers with access to cost-effective farming solutions. “Our farmers’ viability depends on innovative and cost-effective farming practices,” he stated.
Expanded Indigenous Livestock Auction
A major highlight of the 2025 Agrishow was the expanded indigenous livestock auction, organized in collaboration with the Zimbabwe National Indigenous Breeders Society. Building on the success of the previous year’s event, the auction featured a broader selection of livestock, including indigenous goats, sheep, and increased numbers of Sanga cattle breeds—Mashona, Nkone, and Tuli.
The auction attracted significant interest from both breeders and buyers, emphasizing the value of locally adapted breeds in enhancing agricultural biodiversity and supporting small-scale farming operations. The newly constructed cattle arena, equipped with viewer catwalks and improved holding facilities, facilitated efficient and engaging livestock trading.
Government Support and Vision
President Emmerson Mnangagwa commended ADMA for organizing the Agrishow, recognizing its contribution to the modernization and mechanization of Zimbabwe’s agriculture sector. He emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting such initiatives, which align with national goals of food security and economic growth.
Community Engagement and Cultural Celebration
Beyond the technological and commercial aspects, the Agrishow fostered a sense of community and cultural pride. Local artisans, food vendors, and entertainers added vibrancy to the event, creating a festive atmosphere that celebrated Zimbabwe’s agricultural heritage.
Looking Ahead
The success of the ADMA Agrishow 2025 underscores the importance of innovation, collaboration, and cultural appreciation in advancing Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector. As the nation continues to embrace modern farming practices and support indigenous livestock breeds, events like the Agrishow will play a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable and prosperous agricultural future.
